I used to buy insect repellent from pharmacies or through online stores for many years, my daughters did not like me spraying the solution on them, they felt sticky and they did not like the funny smell of the solution. But no choice, we don’t want to take the risk of being bitten by insects and getting a disease carried by mosquitoes or insects.
I started to DIY my own personal products using Essential Oil about more than a year ago, I realized I actually can save a lot compared to buying those from off-the-shelf. The most important thing is that I know exactly what I am putting in and I feel so much safer to let my daughters using it.
So I searched for insect repellent recipe using Essential Oils, to my surprise, there are tonnes of different combination and it is so easy to make! Personally, I preferred this recipe and this is a must-have in my outdoor backpack.
2 drops Purification Essential Oil
1 drop Peppermint Essential Oil
Pinch of Sea Salt
Drip the Essential Oils into 1 oz glass spray bottle, add a pinch of salt to disperse the EO so that it could mix well with water later. Fill the glass spray bottle with distilled water and shake well.
Purification is an Essential Oil blend which is made up of six essential oils for the ultimate weapon against insects – Citronella, Lavandin, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Myrtle, and Tea Tree.
