When my girls are down with flu, I always like to make Black Bean and Barley Smoothie for them and also for the whole family. Black beans and pearl barleys are both known good in protecting lungs. They help in lung detoxification and protect the lungs against lung inflammation.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup black beans
- ½ cup pearl barley
- 1 piece of sweet potato
- 45g rock sugar
- 1.2 litre water
Method:
Soak both black beans and pearl barley overnight (I normally peel off the skin of the black beans).
Cook everything together and blend it into smoothies using a food processor. It can be served as breakfast.
Here you go. This time, I added a handful of walnuts to boost up the nutrients level.
